Missions
Key thoughtGod sends His people to share the gospel with courage. The church participates through prayer, giving, and sending. Jesus promises to be with us always as we go.
Today Pastor Daniel preaches on Missions. It is also Family Sunday. Come to worship ready to hear what God is teaching you about His heart for all nations and His call to send His people out.
Acts 13:1–3
1Now there were in the church at Antioch prophets and teachers, Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a lifelong friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. 2While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” 3Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off.
Matthew 18:18
18Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
This week we have prepared for Missions Sunday. We have seen that God initiates missions — He calls and sends. The church participates — she prays and sends. Trusting God means sharing with courage even when it costs us. And Jesus commands us to make disciples of all nations, promising to be with us always.
Today, as we worship, let us bring together what we have learned. God sent His Son, Jesus, to save us. He sends His people — like Justin in Europe — to tell others. He sends us — to our neighbors, our coworkers, our families. The question is not whether we participate in God’s mission but how. Come ready to worship. Come ready to listen. Come ready to go where He sends.
After the sermon today, ask God: “What is one thing You are teaching me about Your mission? What is one step You want me to take this week?”
- What is God teaching you about His heart for all nations?
- What is your role in His mission — going, sending, praying, giving, or supporting?
- Who is one person God might be sending you to this week?
Thank God for His mission — for sending Jesus, for sending Justin, for sending you. Ask God to show you your role in His mission and to give you courage to take one step this week. Pray that today’s sermon would send you out to share the gospel with someone who needs to hear.
Amen
